Lemonade Stand Ken asked:

I found this recipe and it’s ideal for me to make. We want to make some beer before everyone goes back to college but we dont have 3-4 weeks like other recipes take. this one says it will take 6-10 days to be ready to drink. Will this work or not?

We are more concentrated on it having the same effects as beer rather than taste.

Buy your own beer machine

6-10 days will give you a pretty raw beer, cloudy and full of sediment. I’m not too hot on the idea of plastic reusable soda bottles. They may blow up.

One thing for sure – do NOT use dry yeast that comes with any kit. Those packets are almost always old and dead. A good way to ruin malt. You can get packets of dry craft brew yeast that is pretty good for a buck. Better yet are the liquid packs for about $2.50.

Yes, this will work, some, but you will end up with less than desireable beer, and maybe even very bitter. If you try is by all means use corn sugar and if you can’t find brewers yeast get some dietary or common yeast, as the bakers yeast found in most stores just doesn’t cut it.
To make a really good beer, you need but a few ingredients but more time. A good light or dark (makes no difference) takes about 3-5 days in the initial stage or crock, then after transfer into a carboy you can figure on another 4-5 weeks of fermenting, or until the escape bubbles appear at about five minute intervals. Then mix in one cup of corn sugar before the bottling process, and no sugar in the bottle. Another week or two is then neccesary to let the beer settle and carbonize.

All inclusive home beer brewing kits

well i agree, don’t do it if your actually looking to enjoy your beer. If you do however venture into this route, then DO NOT use any rootbeer bottles, unless that is of course you like rootbeer flavored beer. we had a customer that came in with his homade beer and he did this, yuk. you should buy an actual homebrew kit, and take your time. Buy your buddies a case of 40’s they wont care in the end anyway.

Yes it will work, but it will be the worst beer you’ve ever had. Check out for better options.
